This past Friday we had Kindergarten orientation at Aubree's school. Firstly, I can't even believe she is old enough. I know every Mom says that....because it's true! Time is so weird...how it can fly right on by..and at the same time move like a snail! A lot of our days have been snail like, even molasses like...but all of them added up to bring us here, to this point...feel like they've flown by! Weird I tell ya...anyway...when we walked in, we received a welcome packet and were greeted by the school mascot Fireball.
Aubree thought he was cute, but wouldn't let me get a picture of them. She wasn't quite warmed up to him.
She dressed herself as Belle, and had me do "Belle hair" (whatever that is...)
Kaisa's Mom was there, who is still one of Aubree's favorites from Nursery. So we sat by her.
And Aubree finally warmed up to Fireball. She was very curious if he could actually blow fire, but he told her he couldn't.
After a 20 minuet speech (including Fireball reading a story to the kids) they ushered us into another room to do activities that we can expect to do in Kindergarten. There were 4 stations set up. We were told that we only had time for 2...but we were speedy and had time to do all of them. Aub's was in a 'mood' but I think she generally still had fun...here we are at the measuring station.
With our friends Karen and Sam (who gave us a ride :)
She already made her pirate hat...
Letter station
She loved the steps, and couldn't believe her eyes when she found a giant pencil:
And lastly we explored the classrooms. She was SOOOO excited. Change is hard for her and she's been nervous about switching schools when she's 5, new kids, new teachers etc...but this helped a lot!
